Saxon Hall is delighted to announce an extra day the Community Cafe. From Tuesday 24th September 2019 the cafe will be open Tuesdays 10 -2.
The cafe previously opened just on a Wednesday offering delicious cakes and lunches. It provides work-based training for participants as a day opportunity and for volunteers seeking a way to gain new skills and confidence. Ideal for those wishing to work in the hospitality industry.
The cafe will be open two days every week from 10am – 2pm from 24th Setember. The cafe provides food and drink for those attending Saxon Hall and attracts regular customers from the locality. A loyalty card was introduced recently which is proving popular with customer who enjoy the coffee and hospitality on offer.
The project is a joint partnership between Saxon Hall and ECHO with support from the local Co-op branch at Holme Lacy Road and Co-op member pioneer, Fiona Mac. It’s an excellent example of how groups can work together for the benefit of the whole community.
Jacqui Stewart is the Project Leader. She previously ran cooking sessions and Adult Community Learning courses for ECHO participants. From these came the idea that a cafe project would be the ideal place for participants who were keen to develop their skills.
There are currently two participant places available as a day opportunity for the Tuesday session. If you are interested then contact Maggie Percy at maggie.percy@echoherefordshire.co.uk who would be happy to answer your questions and arrange a trial visit. You will need to have funding in place. The cost is £41.00 per day.
Volunteers are a vital part of the team. Helping others can be a very rewarding way to spend your time, you can make a real difference the experience our participants have and perhaps gain some new skills.
